Synopsis:
NIMROD is a five-act brute-farce in verse! It’s a ridiculously chilling blend of Julius Caesar, Ubu Roi and The Simpsons Movie that follows an imagined final year of a criminal businessman’s presidency (the Nimrod administration) through the eyes of Lani, its beleaguered Slovenian First Lady. Is it a ribald comedy? A brutal tragedy? Will language itself devolve into madness and lies? And what does a radioactive pig have to do with the fate of the free world? Listen for yourself and find out. Nimrod was performed and recorded in front of a live audience on September 21, 2024 at The Broadwater in Hollywood. Each episode of the Nimrod Podcast includes one act of the performance followed by discussion and breakdown with Kirsten Vangsness and Phinneas Kiyomura. Written by Phinneas Kiyomura, directed by Alina Phelan Ballou and starring Kirsten Vangsness. In Nimrod Episode V, now imprisoned in her chambers, Lani is confronted by Blandon, the evil brain behind Nimrod's power as an insurrection commences. After drawing blood and escaping, Lani confronts her husband, her lover and her brother as she fights to save her son -- will she succeed? Tune in and find out!
After the show, Kirsten and Phinny break down Act 5, talk the vagaries of the fever swamp lexicon, whether or not Phinny should wear a ruff, what it's like to talk in "Huttese" (check wookiepedia, folks), and hopefully deliver a little honest hope. It's been fun and thanks so much for coming along on this ride with us.
Written by Phinneas Kiyomura, directed by Alina Phelan Ballou and starring Kirsten Vangsness.

Act 1 introduces us to the world of the Nimrod Administration (a criminal businessman’s presidency in its final year) through the eyes of Lani, a beleaguered Slovenian First Lady. After the performance, Kirsten Vangsness, who plays the titular role of Nimrod, and Phinneas Kiyomura, playwright of Nimrod, break down Act 1, talk about why this play was written and why it was written this way and set the table for Act 2.
