Synopsis:

When it comes to issues of free speech and freedom of expression most agree that there are lines which should not or must not be crossed. 'Avocado' in a humorous and non contentious way simply poses the question: who gets to draw the lines?

And Death certainly wasn't expecting to feel anything other than pure apathy for the first time in a couple centuries. Can Girl escape her fate, does she want to?

"Real men don't talk about personal matters (at least not easily) and especially not about romantic relationships. But sometimes when someone is on the cusp of a big decision, even a tough guy feels the need to reach out for a friend's honest opinion. So far in our story we know that private investigator Detective J.M. Barry is investigating a threat recieved by Wendy Darling, who he hasn't seen in years, as well as some mysterious pink powder, which he's discovered to be the cause of the death of nightclub owner Mr Sammy Smee. Originally thinking Mr Smee's death was linked to his gambling debts, Detective Barry has now discovered its not so and that this pink powder is a lot more dangerous than he first realised.

S03 E07 - Episode 7 - "Sky Horses" & Cindi Sansone-Braff

Hello there and welcome to Episode 7 of Theatrical Shenanigans. This week we have a piece from UK based playwright Trish Bertram, who had always wanted to try and write plays and screenplays and is finally able to make the time for it. She's had works done as staged readings and monologues performed and filmed previously.

Trish's piece is entitled "Sky Horses" and initially came out of a class exercise to write 10 minute plays. The idea being to learn about structure  - as the same principles apply to short and longer work. “What do the characters want, what’s stopping them getting it, what happens?”

For todays episode we have the great privilege of producing the first script of UK based playwright, Pauline Watts who only recently started playwriting as the result of attending a script/playwriting class in Kingston-Upon-Thames, UK. 

Her play "Tins" is based on a true story about a husband who wanted to inform the congregation at his wife’s funeral that she had stopped him fulfilling his true potential. In "Tins" we meet four sisters who find something out about their mum that they didn’t expect.

Mini Shenanigans - Episode 10 - ”Goodnight Jimmy” by Darrin Ingram

The piece is called "Goodnight Jimmy" and in it we see James Boyd and his younger brother Johnny engage in their nightly ritual of banter and reminiscing in an attempt to overcome (or maybe enhance) a case of chronic insomnia.

Play Synopsis:

A piece with some sombre underlying contemporary themes that came from watching the news at the time of the police shootings/beatings and unnecessary restraint leading to the death of black American male citizens that lead to the Black Lives Matter campaign. It just makes you wonder about the recruitment process of law enforcement officers.
