The Merely Players are roused from their lazy summer slumber by a messenger who sends word that Shyla of Stratford - the famed merchant of coin - seeks their services. Upon meeting the Cleric of Vergadain, she informs them that a local bank - Venitzia Holdings - has been facilitating deals between government officials and the criminal underworld, undercutting her business. She hires the Players to join her in a heist to steal the incriminating documents from the bank's secure vault in order to shut down these shady deals.

Our tale begins in the bustling town of Verena as our ragtag group of misfits is recovering from their foray into the nearby haunted old Darrow Manor. Following a morning of mischief spurred by our bard, Billie Wobbleaxe, and trickster cleric, Delrick Haventhorn, the party heads out in search of a job to earn some coin. Not long thereafter, they stumble into a street brawl between members of two wealthy households: the Human noble Montero family and the wealthy Elven merchants, the Capulyts. The band, in an attempt to break up the deadly fight, find themselves pulled into a generations-old conflict against their will.
