After 30 years of running Dungeons & Dragons campaigns I'm happy to share with you the story of Mergeworlds. Based on a world I originally created in 1994 and have been growing and adapting since, this tale spans several generations and tells the story of two brothers and a group of mysterious magical artifacts which eventually leads to a climactic event that will reshape the entirety of reality. The aftermath creates an unlikely group of heroes left to figure out how it happened, if it can be fixed and is there a way back home.

The Keeper of the Sands has told the heroes that there is a way to stop the Auruman Emperor permanently but that specific tasks must be completed first. Soon after, the Dragon Hunter Balen arrives in Serenity with a message from the Keeper. They are to help him kill the large black Dragon Cirok, who killed Balen’s father. Joining him on this mission they travel far to the north, but while they are away dark forces move against the kingdom.

In this episode we start by going a little back in time to a special mini-adventure Mercy and Artemis had before the current storyline. This originally happened this way because I liked to try and have a Halloween themed mini-adventure for my players on that holiday. It was important to include because it introduces some new characters. Afterwards we continue in our current storyline, where the characters have a chance to finally rid themselves of the nightmares, but not before another dark dream introduces their true enemy.
