Halloween Comes But Once a Year

Thu, 30 Oct 2025 21:30:00 GMT

This episode continues the thrilling adventures of Sam, Raven, and Jim in the post-apocalyptic town of Hope, where recent events have shaken the community to its core. Just a day after a devastating explosion attributed to the Mothman cultists, our protagonists set out to explore the northern reaches of the town in search of their super mutant companion, Chop. Their expedition takes a dangerous turn when they encounter a pack of feral ghouls, testing their resolve and survival skills.

The turning point comes as Sam receives a desperate radio message from Dr. Jacob Morrison, the town’s doctor, pleading for supplies and support. His heartfelt plea awakens the team’s sense of urgency, prompting them not only to seek out Chop but also to scavenge for resources that could revive the dwindling hopes of the townspeople. The narrative shifts to October, as Sam finds himself back in a local shop, reminiscing about Jim’s recent departure with the discovery of a note that reveals his friend’s intentions. This poignant moment highlights the emotional struggles they face amidst the chaos. As Sam reflects on the past, he and Raven prepare to bring some festive spirit back to Hope with Halloween decorations, signaling a glimmer of joy in their harsh reality.

Their scavenging leads them to colorful merchandise and decorations in the Halloween shop, where they unearth whimsical yet nostalgic items that remind them of brighter days. However, their quest for candy and supplies leads them to encounter dangers that lurk amidst the ruins of Hope. With careful strategy and collaborative tactics, they manage to eliminate the threats they face, including feral ghouls and a malfunctioning Protectron security robot, ensuring their survival in a precarious environment. As they uncover more about the town’s dark history and the strange occurrences within its borders, Sam begins to realize that rebuilding hope in their community involves piecing together not only scattered resources but also the fragmented stories of its inhabitants. They discover key supplies in a Super Duper Mart, with nostalgic items sparking memories of life before the bombs fell.

The exploration and scavenging culminate in a visit to the local bank, where Sam bravely confronts a lurking ghoul, successfully dispatching it and looting the vault for precious pre-war currency. With promises of future prosperity and stability, the team reflects on their findings and the importance of community, as new settlers begin to trickle into Hope in search of refuge. With plans for a festive Halloween filled with trick-or-treating and perhaps a carving contest, the team members discuss the direction their newfound resources could take the town. As they strategize the next steps, the mood shifts from somber reflection to hopeful anticipation for the future.Join us in this emotional, action-packed episode as we see how buried hopes can be revived amid chaos, leading our heroes on a path towards restoration and community in the town of Hope.

Overseer's Log 24 - Ghouls At Dusk, Robots at Dawn

Sat, 27 Sep 2025 21:30:00 GMT

In this episode, I delve into the latest developments from our Fallout tabletop RPG actual play series, “Tales from Tomorrow, Under the Mothman’s Embrace.” As your Overseer, I share some critical updates and reflections from the past couple of weeks, during which we faced a notable pause in streaming. This break stemmed from various life circumstances, including technical tribulations for our player Sky, who recently had to replace his laptop. Alongside that, we took a moment to celebrate birthdays, all while gearing up for an exciting transition to the Forge and Foundry system

.In a more serious tone, I address some troubling experiences within our gaming community. Specifically, after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, I found myself abruptly removed from the Wild Wastelanders Market alongside others. This change was precipitated by a chilling shift in community dynamics that, in my view, prioritized profit over the safety and well-being of its members. I feel it’s vital to highlight that this community, which should be a sanctuary for allies against racism and bigotry, has shown itself to be complicit in harassment rather than protective. I encourage anyone engaged with that group to reconsider their involvement, as it’s clear that the leadership is more interested in their financial bottom line than in fostering a supportive environment. As we navigate these challenges, I also reflect on my commitment to authenticity and my belief in standing firmly against oppression in all its forms. This episode serves not only as a chronological update but also as a rallying call for integrity and solidarity within our gaming circles. I recognize the importance of being proactive and vocal as allies, rather than merely passive supporters. For those interested, I announce new discount codes available for the Bethesda Gear shop, serving as an opportunity to save while also supporting creators who align with our values.

Shifting to the technical aspects of the last episode, I discuss our venture into the Foundry platform, highlighting its advantages over our previous VTT, Alchemy. The transition has been largely positive, allowing for a more fluid gaming experience. I extend my gratitude to community members like Neri who have provided invaluable assistance during this shift. Furthermore, I acknowledge the simultaneous challenges we face, including plumbing issues in my office that have added to the complexity of recent weeks. Despite these obstacles, I am excited about the future, including upcoming Vault Broadcast interviews and a reinvigorated commitment to engaging with Fallout 76 multiple nights a week.I conclude with a candid plea for accountability and reflection from fellow gamers, particularly those who may hold privilege. This moment tests our resolve; we must choose to stand against bigotry of all types and reject complacency. The urgency of this message resonates deeply with me, and I urge you all to engage thoughtfully with these issues. As we forge ahead, let’s maintain our focus on creating a community that values inclusivity, authenticity, and proactive resistance against hate. Until next time, stay vigilant, and let’s navigate this wasteland together.

S1E24 - Ghouls at Dusk, Robots at Dawn

Fri, 12 Sep 2025 00:00:00 GMT

In this episode of "Tales from Tomorrow, Under the Mothman's Embrace," we gather to launch into another thrilling session of our Fallout TTRPG series. I, Overseer Kyle, facilitate the adventure alongside my amazing cast of friends, including Sky, DK, and Mack Raven. Our gameplay takes place within the rich, chaotic environment of Appalachia, where last week’s escapades ended in a cliffhanger of high stakes involving a trial and a chaotic attack by the Mothman cultists. We kick off the episode with a brief recap of the previous events, reminding everyone of the intense fallout following Jim Wayne's trial and the explosive chaos that erupted in town. As the players rally back together, we set the stage for the next phase of their journey: determining their next steps in either tracking down the legendary Chop or exploring the threat from rogue robots that are reportedly patrolling nearby. Given the circumstances, it’s clear that the stakes have never been higher

.Before delving into the gameplay, I take a moment to share some exciting announcements regarding our community, including new campaigns launching soon and the code promotions available for those interested in Bethesda merchandise and the Fallout TTRPG itself. The atmosphere is charged with anticipation as our heroes strategize their next move under the looming threat of danger.Once we dive into the gaming portion, each player introduces their character, ready for action. Sky brings Sam to life, dressed in a Tunnel Snakes jacket, while DK plays his character, Jim. Mack Raven embodies her Mothman cultist character with fierce determination. The collaborative banter among the players enriches the experience, revealing their camaraderie and inventive plans as they prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.

The session gradually shifts into a more intense phase as they encounter a group of feral ghouls while navigating the desolate streets. With each player's decisions, they engage in a dynamic combat encounter, showcasing their unique abilities and the new mechanics of the Foundry software we now use. I appreciate how easy it is to track initiative and manage health bars, ensuring the focus remains on the storytelling rather than getting bogged down by technical difficulties. As the ghouls attack, the players spring into action, with Sam using his shotgun to swiftly eliminate threats while Jim relies on his trusty pipe wrench. Meanwhile, Raven's character deftly uses her bow to deliver deadly shots from the shadows. Strategy and teamwork come to the forefront as they handle the ghoul menace, demonstrating not just their combat competence but also the growth of their characters through shared experiences.

After the dust settles from the ghoul confrontation, the players reflect on their options moving forward in the hunt for Chop, noting a lack of clarity regarding his whereabouts and weighing their next strategic moves against the clock. They decide to form plans to see if they can uncover any leads on the robot patrols, revealing how each decision has the potential to drastically shift the course of their adventure. As I wrap up this episode, the challenges remain ever present, and I’m filled with excitement for the subsequent sessions. This dynamic game is not just about surviving the wasteland; it’s about forging friendships and narratives that will resonate long after the dice are rolled. We invite our listeners to join us on this journey, encouraging them to dive deeper into our community via subscriptions to our content for exclusive insights and behind-the-scenes material.Overall, this episode exemplifies not only the thrill of TTRPGs but also highlights our storytelling at its finest, and I'm eager to see where this journey will take us in the chapters to come.

Overseer's Log 23 - How to Get Away With Murder

Sun, 07 Sep 2025 00:40:00 GMT

In this episode of the Overseer's Log, I dive into the latest happenings in our Diary Companion podcast, which accompanies our main Fallout TTRPG actual play series, Tales from Tomorrow. Specifically, we explore Episode 23, "How to Get Away with Murder." If you’re a fan of immersive role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons and beloved shows such as Critical Role or Dimension 20, you'll find our campaign particularly engaging, especially if you have a fondness for the Fallout universe.

As I share updates, I reflect on our recent week off and the excitement surrounding my conversation with Mickey from the Fallout Family, whose work in short form video storytelling truly impresses. We discuss our creative processes and the intricacies involved in bringing compelling narratives to life within the Fallout framework. Notably, a comedic interlude caused by a blunder with my glasses before our recording session adds a personal touch to this week's episode.I emphasize the importance of engaging with our Discord community, overseen by me, where all show notes and updates are made available. Our Vault Broadcast project is evolving into something special, designed to bring together creators and fans for an interactive experience. This week, a live roundtable features esteemed creators like Marty and Mr. Wild Wasteland, as we explore the intersection of community-driven content and engaging gameplay. The format allows for lively discussions that segue into gameplay, providing a unique blend of conversation and action.

As I transition into the main content of the week, I delve into Episode 23, sharing insights on the challenges my players face as they navigate a world that reacts to their decisions. The realization that actions have consequences—weaving in moral complexity—emerges as a central theme. Dynamic interactions with non-player characters (NPCs) force players to consider the ramifications of their actions in a world that is anything but static.I also lament the recent struggles with our previous virtual tabletop software, Alchemy, which failed to deliver the necessary functionality for an engaging gaming experience. I vent about the frustrations with its inadequate battle mapping and combat systems, reinforcing my commitment to creating an enjoyable and seamless gaming environment for my players. With a shift towards Forge, an extension of Foundry, I express optimism for improved functionality and a smoother gaming experience, thanks to the support of a knowledgeable friend.

As a media creator, I discuss the excitement and intensity of managing multiple content streams, equating our creative endeavors to building a 'media empire.' I share appreciation for our audience's positive feedback and encourage anyone interested in contributing to the project to reach out. The potential for collaboration is open as we plan for more content and community events in the upcoming months, specifically centered around the upcoming Fallout TV series.A final note invites listeners to engage through our social platforms, highlighting opportunities for audience participation and the collaborative spirit we cherish. With this episode, I'm enthusiastic about the direction our community is heading and keen on expanding our creative horizons together.

S1E23 - How to Get Away With Murder

Wed, 03 Sep 2025 22:50:00 GMT

In this episode of "Tales from Tomorrow," we continue exploring the aftermath of a chaotic battle that left the small town of Hope reeling from a brutal attack by Mothman cultists. After a tumultuous trial that saw tensions rising, our characters—Sam, Jim, and Raven—face the harsh realities of their decisions. The episode dives into the emotional fallout as the group navigates their relationships with townsfolk who are now wary of their presence. After last week's explosive events, Sam is recovering in the medical clinic with the help of Alfred, the town's robotic assistant. Sam's dire condition highlights the severity of their earlier skirmishes, and he must decide whether to pursue medical care for his lingering injuries or to assist the townspeople in their time of need. The issue of Raven's involvement in the attack complicates matters, as the townsfolk blame her for provoking the chaos with her presence at the trial.

As the episode unfolds, Jim and Sam attempt to manage the perceptions of the community, especially as Raven faces hostility from Hell's Bells, a key figure in town, who believes Raven's actions are responsible for the attacks. The group must carefully maneuver their way through social tensions while also coming together to help injured residents. Our characters embark on a grim mission to identify the bodies of the cultists and discover their origins, which ultimately connects them to Clancy Manor, the source of past troubles. During this time, they grapple with the fallout from their choices and consider how their actions could impact their standing within the town moving forward.

Themes of accountability, friendship, and the struggle for redemption permeate this episode as the characters prepare for a fraught journey toward Point Pleasant. The group engages in vital planning discussions, weighing their options as they contemplate moving forward amidst the wreckage of what they once aimed to build in Hope. With moral dilemmas mounting, the trio must band together to overcome their past mistakes and focus on a collective future, hoping to heal both the physical and emotional scars left by the conflict. Ultimately, the episode serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of peace and the necessity of unity in the face of adversity, setting the stage for their next adventure in the wasteland.

Overseer's Log 21 - The Trial of Jim Wayne

Sat, 16 Aug 2025 22:01:00 GMT

In this episode of Overseer's Log, I delve into the chaotic realm of tech troubles and upcoming gameplay highlights for our Fallout tabletop RPG series. Kicking things off, I express my deep frustration with a significant issue stemming from my dual-computer streaming setup. Having streamed since 2017, I rely heavily on advanced network protocols like NDI to seamlessly transmit video between my older gaming rig and my MacBook for live broadcasts on Twitch and YouTube. However, a recent technical hiccup has resulted in a garbled NDI signal, thwarting my attempts to deliver quality content. I explore the various diagnostic steps I've taken, including multiple Windows reinstalls and hardware swaps, to pinpoint the source of this issue, but it remains elusive.

As I reflect on my streaming journey, I highlight how this setback has impacted my ability to stream Fallout 76, much to my annoyance and disappointment. The troubleshooting process has been extensive, with unproductive solutions in both hardware and software leading to a feeling of hitting a wall. I can't help but hope that the new NIC card I ordered will resolve the situation and restore the streaming quality we had come to rely upon. As I await its delivery, I explore the possibility of using a capture card as a backup solution, even though I'd prefer not to need it, given the cost considerations

Shifting gears from tech troubles, I navigate into more narrative terrain by discussing our recent "Trial of Jim Wayne" episode from our TTRPG series. The trial presented players with the consequences of their character's choices, specifically Jim's decision to execute a cultist without trial, stirring civil unrest among the townsfolk. I share insights into the players grappling with moral dilemmas, realizing that their characters are not invincible heroes but ordinary people with limited influence and resources in a complex and living world. Their actions have sparked contrasting opinions as they confront the ethical implications of their choices, ultimately pushing them to navigate the challenging dynamics of justice and accountability within the game.

I provide commentary on the evolving character arcs within our party, particularly focusing on Jim's precarious legal situation and the impending consequences of his actions if he fails to defend himself in the upcoming trial. As I discuss these themes, I emphasize that the players' past actions, while initially well-intentioned, may lead to dire repercussions, leaving them in a position where any attempt to absolve their friend Jim could threaten their own standing in the town.Wrapping up the discussion, I touch on the excitement surrounding our upcoming “Mothman Equinox” event, which is expected to serve as a climactic moment within the narrative, tying together various plot threads and character arcs. I encourage listeners to join us through Twitch and YouTube to witness the unfolding drama in our live sessions. This episode stands as a testament to the intricate balance of storytelling, character development, and the relentless challenges of technology we face as content creators and players alike. For those interested in more insights and updates, I provide links to our various platforms, including YouTube and Discord, and invite them to engage more deeply with our community.

S1E21 - The Trial of Jim Wayne

Wed, 13 Aug 2025 21:31:00 GMT

In this episode of "Tales from Tomorrow," the Fallout TTRPG actual play series, we navigate a tense courtroom drama as Jim Wayne faces trial for the murder of a cultist. As we delve into the chaotic world of post-apocalyptic justice, our characters Sam, Raven, and Jim confront the implications of their past actions and the fallout of their adventures. The episode opens with a recap of the previous events, establishing the stakes surrounding Jim's trial. The quaint town of Hope, which has been grappling with the consequences of their escapades, is buzzing with anticipation and anxiety as preparations unfold for a trial unlike any other. Jim is contending with both the weight of legal charges and the scrutiny of the townsfolk who are eager to witness justice served—or perhaps revenge enacted.

Our players introduce their characters, each with their own feelings about the impending trial and what it means for their group dynamic. With the backdrop set and tension mounting, Sam makes a compelling argument for Jim’s self-defense plea, highlighting the circumstances that led to the confrontation with the cultists. He emphasizes Jim's contributions to the town, essentially arguing that survival trumps all, especially in a world as harsh as the wasteland. As the trial progresses, we witness Sam's strategic maneuvers to sway the jury while Jim's character is put under scrutiny. The interrogation reveals Jim's prior knowledge of the cult's beliefs and the consequences of touching their sacred orb. Questions echo within the courtroom about the nature of self-defense and the complexities of morality in a world where the lines are blurred and survival often necessitates violence.

We see Raven engage in a desperate gamble to summon the Wise One for aid, showcasing her deep commitment to saving Jim despite the potential risks to herself. The court atmosphere shifts as she faces hostility, highlighting the severe consequences that can arise from defiance. Meanwhile, the chaotic energy of the townspeople, buoyed by street vendors and festivities, offers a stark contrast to the grim proceedings inside the courthouse. The climax builds as Jim’s and Raven’s testimonies intertwine with the challenges posed by the cultists, especially as the beliefs of the Eightfold Path collide with the reality of the judicial process in Hope. Each character’s dialogue is laden with significance as they grapple with moral dilemmas and the dire consequences of their choices. As the episode concludes, the fate of Jim hangs in the balance, leaving listeners on a thrilling cliffhanger. The jury is tasked with a weighty decision that could change the course of life for Jim and the town. The tension of this trial extends beyond mere legal implications; it speaks to the heart of survival in a post-apocalyptic world, where justice is as murky as the waters surrounding Hope. The episode closes, urging listeners to consider the moral choices made in the wasteland and what they would determine as justice in such dire circumstances.Join us next week as we uncover the jury's verdict and explore the consequences of their decision, continuing to unravel the tapestry of stories in this ever-evolving world of Fallout.

S1E20 - Trial By Fire

Wed, 06 Aug 2025 20:05:00 GMT

Where We Left Off

The crew left the Grove Family Cabins behind, their boat heavy with people and questions. Reuben, Ted, and Marlene came aboard. So did Chop — the super mutant — and his broken Sentry Bot project: Buddy Bot. They were headed north, back toward Hope.

What Happened This Time

Upstream, the crew fished and spotted trouble. Mirelurks in the water. Dozens. Possibly hundreds. Then came the real problem: a Mirelurk Queen, moving along the river nearby.

They didn’t fight. They watched. They waited. They got lucky.

Not long after, they found the aftermath of someone else’s bad luck — a merchant caravan torn apart on a riverbank. Sam and Raven investigated while Chop, Jim, and the settlers stayed aboard. They looted what they could: med kits, food, armor, and a legendary shotgun.

On the way back to the boat, Raven slipped — tumbling into a nest of hatchlings. Chop pulled her out while the others covered. They got back on the water, battered but breathing.

Then the call came in. Tom, on the Hope radio frequency:

“Dock the boat. Everyone stays aboard — except Sam.”

Mayor Smiles was calling for a trial.

The Dreamer’s Price

Sam met with Tom and later, Mayor SMILEs. The offer: five jurors, selected from a list Sam would provide, but subject to approval. The crime: the murder of a member of the Eightfold Path. The timeline: 24 hours. Not self-defense, they said. Not this time.

The sentence? Still unclear. But death was on the table.

Sam started planning. Alfred the Mr. Handy raised concerns — not just about the trial, but about Jim.

Jim, still on the boat, offered a defense no one asked for. A checklist of good deeds. A few smiles. A few unsettling laughs. No remorse. And maybe no plan.

They Plan — But Not All Together

The jury list started forming: Lena. Tom. Terry. Jacob. Hell’s Bells. Sam sent for Rusty Dusty Bones — the ghoul with a gift for law and a group of holotapes to give him all the ideas he could need. If he could make it north in time, he might just save Jim’s life.

Meanwhile, Raven started to wonder: if this town is about second chances… does Jim deserve one?

Next?

Tomorrow at high noon, Hope holds its first post-war trial. The jury will decide. Rusty’s on the road. SMILEs is watching. And something is moving upriver, behind them.

If they can’t hold the line — Hope falls next.

S1E19 - Chop, No Chopping!! - A Fallout TTRPG Actual Play Series

Wed, 30 Jul 2025 21:53:18 GMT

Where We Left Off

Raven came back from the flames — alive, but changed. She spoke of a place called the Lantern: a sanctuary you reach only in dreams. She said a man named Brother Charles was waiting for her there. That he called her child. That the weapon in her hands — an old-world blunderbuss — came from inside the dream.

Jim and Sam aren’t sure what to believe. But they believe in her. And they believe it’s time to leave. The settlers at the Grove Family Cabins feel it too. Hope’s light still flickers up north — maybe it’s time to head back.

What Happened This Time

The Grove Family settlers are packing up. Ted and Marlene begin sorting their gear while Reuben stands quiet on watch. The cabins are being abandoned — too exposed, too close to the cult’s reach. Chop starts gathering his own things and mentions a hidden stash nearby he wants to check on.

After a tense moment of decision, the crew agrees: they’ll help the settlers relocate to Hope. But hauling all that gear won’t be easy. The best option? Head back north by boat.

Before the crew sets off, Chop asks for a detour — to the Darling Sisters' Lab. Once a drug-running safehouse, it’s now Chop’s personal workshop. There, he reveals his passion project: a nearly-restored sentry bot. All it needs is a fusion core.

And wouldn’t you know it — Mac has one.

The moment it powers on, the sentry bot identifies Mac as a hostile threat and launches into pursuit. Its weapons are offline, thankfully, so it’s more slapstick than slaughter. Around the farm they go — a super mutant yelling, a scientist panicking, and a robot trying its best to obey protocols last updated sometime before the war.

Chop beams with pride. He dubs the machine Buddy Bot — and considers it a step toward understanding friendship.

With the bot mostly under control, the crew heads south to rendezvous with Alfred at the Tyler County Fairgrounds. There, they board the boat and begin their journey upriver, back toward Hope — and whatever waits for them beyond it.

Echoes of What’s to Come

The episode ends on the water. The settlers are safe. The cabins are left behind. Sam watches the shore drift by. Mac stands at the bow, scanning the treeline. Jim wonders how long this peace will last.

Chop sits beside his sentry bot, smiling.

The crew has a destination — and a direction.

Overseer's Log 18 - A Raven From the Ashes, a TTRPG GM Diary

Sat, 19 Jul 2025 20:11:17 GMT

A Raven From the Ashes

Hello, Vault Dwellers and Wastelanders — your Overseer here.

I wanted to take a moment to reflect on Episode 18 and all the weird, wonderful, improvised magic that brought it together as well as give updates on the office!

As a reminder, we will not have a new episode the week of the 20th, but be sure to follow my other YouTube channel (Overseer Kyle) and our Vault Broadcast podcast as we’ve got new episodes launching next week!

Where She Went...

Episode 18 saw Raven separated from the crew, waking inside a burnt-out barn — alone, breath shallow, eyes wide — until she found sanctuary the only place a dreamer could: a refrigerator.

Yeah. Really.

That choice — to crawl in, half-suffocated, as the Mothman beckoned — sent her somewhere few have ever gone: Lantern.

It’s a Mothman sanctuary referenced in Fallout 76, but not fully explored. We expanded on it with a twist of Rose Red, the haunted house that builds itself to your fears. What if Lantern wasn’t a place you traveled to physically, but mentally? What if it grew with you?

In Lantern, Raven found Brother Charles — not the stuttering, fractured vessel he’s become, but the man he used to be. The one that speaks clearly. The one still whole. That was no accident. That was the version of him who never left the Embrace of the Mothman.

Behind the GM Screen

Last week, Sam re-entered the story via a brutal Mothman cult ambush. That worked out great — thanks to a real-world scheduling conflict, we got to write that absence into the story. This week, we did the same with Raven.

Mac and I had discussed her fate off-air. Originally? She said she'd go willingly with the Mothman. But after sitting with it, she decided Raven would fight — reject the pull and run. So, we rewound the tape and wrote something better.

I love how much creative elasticity this format gives us. It's spontaneous, it's emotional, and it's deeply collaborative. That’s the beauty of tabletop storytelling.

The Settlers Pack Up

Meanwhile, back at the Grove Family Cabins — Ted, Marlene, and Reuben made a choice: to leave. The world is getting stranger, more dangerous, and the crew's brush with the Mothman cult shook everyone.

What I haven’t said aloud (until now) is this: I didn’t originally know if they’d be good folks. Maybe they were raiders. Maybe they were cultists in disguise. Like all things in this campaign, that answer was improvised live at the table, shaped by your actions.

Studio Upgrades and No More Pre-Show

Quick IRL update: we’re tweaking lights, sound, and camera angles in the new studio. It's a slow climb toward full-time, and every Ko-fi contribution helps put fuel in the tank and power in the grid.

We’re officially cutting the TTRPG pre-show on Sundays — at least for now. With a small audience, it doesn’t quite serve its purpose, and I’d rather focus that energy on building better episodes. Once our viewership grows, we may revisit.

Programming Note

📵 No TTRPG stream on July 21 — Skye’s got a scheduling conflict.🎮 Instead, we’ll be live in Fallout 76 all weekend! Come join us in-game or hang out on stream.

On the Horizon

✅ Vault Broadcast: New interviews with 2Cam Cosplays and VendorHunt76✅ New zine preview for Ko-fi members — test prints are rolling✅ Tales From Tomorrow returns Sunday, July 28 @ 7:30 PM ET

I'm also working on organizing Fallout 76 community events. Scavenger hunts, meetups, maybe a few brawls with the big bads — all to remind us we’re not alone in this Wasteland.

S1E18 - A Raven From The Ashes

Wed, 16 Jul 2025 20:01:00 GMT

Where We Left Off

Raven vanished in the chaos. The barn was burning. The cultists were dead — but the Red-Eyed Mothman wasn’t. Sam, Jim, and Chop stood in the ashes, Reuben at their side, wondering if the fire had claimed her too. But Raven was somewhere else. Somewhere darker. Somewhere colder. She walked the halls of the Lantern — a place from childhood stories. A home of the Enlightened.

Back at the Grove Cabins, the settlers were packing to leave. The cult’s reach was too close now. And even as the fire died down at Aaronholt Farm, the woods grew quiet in all the wrong ways.

What Happened This Time

Sam and Jim search the scorched wreckage. The barn’s collapsed, but the dust still lingers — glowing purple, just like before. They follow its trail and find something impossible: Raven’s voice, echoing from beneath the rubble. They dig. They find the fridge. She’s alive.

Inside, Raven had lived a dream — or something worse. She saw the Lantern up close: endless hallways, glowing green fog, rooms built to her questions. Brother Charles waited there, calling her “child.” Telling her she’d never really left. That only her mind had walked those halls.

She brings something back. A weapon — an 18th-century blunderbuss. She says it came from the dream. No one’s sure what that means.

The trio regroups. They loot the homestead for supplies: ammo, fire arrows, stim packs, some whispered note about not being alone. But the settlers at the Grove are leaving. They’ve seen enough. If Hope’s still lit, maybe they’ll go there.

Dusk falls. The Mothman still watches.

The Lantern Beckons

The figure in the dream called himself Brother Charles. Said the Lantern was a sanctuary. But only minds could enter. Is it a real place? A memory? A psychic echo? And if Raven brought something out… what does that mean about going back in?

They Found Her — But She’s Not the Same

Raven’s alive, but shaken. She speaks of the Wise One, of trials ahead, of a kingdom of ash. Sam and Jim aren’t sure what to believe — but they know they’re heading for Point Pleasant. The cult’s not done. And neither is the Mothman.

Next?

The settlers are scattering. The trio heads east. Brother Errol once said the Lantern took a long journey to reach. But Raven found it anyway. In her sleep. Through fire. With dust in her lungs and something new in her hands.

What else is waiting at Clancy Manor? And what happens when the Chosen One knocks on the wrong door?

Overseer's Log 17 - Bound in Shadow

Sun, 13 Jul 2025 23:12:50 GMT

We’re live on Twitch at the time of this posting: https://twitch.tv/overseerkyle

We’re streaming again, building a studio, and crawling out of the Vault one cable at a time.

This week’s Overseer’s Log is a bite-sized update on everything behind the curtain: new desks, Fallout 76 community streams, and a steady march toward our second Fallout TTRPG campaign this summer. I reflect on Tales from Tomorrow Episode 17 (our improvised “Sam’s Missing” arc), what made it work, and why I believe the best TTRPGs are the ones that embrace chaos with good company.

Also covered:

* Homebrew grapples and cinematic rulings

* Vault Broadcast’s return to schedule (and future Twitch plans)

* Summer Campaign nights on the horizon

* Discount codes for Bethesda Gear (BTALES38) and the Fallout TTRPG (BTALES)

Unfiltered, unedited, and (mostly) unscripted — it’s just me, a tripod, and a half-eaten desk lamp sandwich.

Sam (Sky), Jim (DK), and Raven (Mac) left Hope behind and drifted south down the Ohio river. The Free Radicals at the West Virginia Lumber Mill wanted a new feudal contract — bend the knee or keep drifting. The crew kept drifting.

At Tyler County Fairgrounds, they found Reuben mid-brawl with a Scorched. He pointed them to the Grove Family Cabins — more good folk holding the line: Ted, Marlene, Reuben, and Chop. Chop’s new. Eight feet of super mutant muscle, half-sane, dragging dead Protectrons like toys.

What Happened This Time

Morning comes — Sam’s gone. Chop’s gone. Reuben too. Sam’s gear’s still in his bunk except the sidearm. Footprints run east, toward the old Aaronholt Farm — and too close to Clancy Manor for Raven’s comfort. She’d dreamt it: a Mothman cult forming up, one of them looking back at her through the vision like a crack in the glass.

Jim and Raven track the prints to the farm. Dusty barns, old silos, signs of settlers passing through. They find ammo, stew, a powder charge — and then the ambush hits. Raiders or cultists — doesn’t matter. Shotgun blasts in the dark. A Molotov sails in — barn’s burning. Second Molotov misfires — their hideout’s burning too.

Underground, Sam wakes blindfolded. Chop’s chained. Reuben’s roped to a post. A cultist in the dark tries to break him — but Sam breaks free first. They wrestle. Chop rips the manacles out of the wall and snaps the cultist’s neck like dry driftwood.

The Dreamer’s Price

Raven reaches for the Wise One. Instead, the Red-Eyed Mothman finds her first. She’s pulled backward through her vision as the barn comes down — gone when Jim hits the door.

They Escape — But Not All Together

Sam, Jim, Reuben, and Chop drag each other out of the burning farmhouse as timbers crash in. The barn’s collapsed. Raven’s trail ends at scorched earth and fluttering ash.

Next?

The Mothman cult has eyes in the dark. The town of Hope is a beacon now — and Raven’s gone with the Red-Eyed one. Jim, Sam, Chop, and Reuben walk out alive, but they’re far from safe.

S1E16 - Something Wicked This Way Comes

Wed, 11 Jun 2025 20:53:32 GMT

The crew finally made landfall in the northern Appalachian Territories. The town of Hope is far behind them now—and with it, any sense of stability.

This week’s session picked up as the party approached the Tyler County Fairgrounds, a landmark of rusted rides and overgrowth that once held happier memories. What they found instead was a gunfight, a settlement barely holding on, and a super mutant named Chop who may be one of the best allies they’ve found yet.

🔫 A Gunfight, a Misunderstanding, and a New Name

Near the fairground gates, gunfire broke the calm. A scorched creature and a lone wastelander were already mid-fight as our group arrived. Sam and Jim crept through the brush. Raven climbed a rooftop and flanked the scene.

After a few well-placed shots and one dramatic entrance from Raven, the scorched was down—and the settler was still standing. His name was Reuben.

Reuben brought the party back to a patchwork settlement in the woods. Just a few cabins, some crops, a makeshift watchpost. But it was enough to be home—for now.

The people there, including Marlene and Ted, weren’t hostile. But they weren’t exactly welcoming either. Trust takes time.

🪓 “Chop is good at making smash.”

While the others unpacked, Sam went looking for Ted and stumbled into something else entirely: a massive super mutant pulling apart Protectrons in the woods.

His name—self-given—was Chop.

What followed was one of the strangest, gentlest, and tensest social scenes in the campaign so far. Sam stayed calm. Chop asked for Nuka-Cola. And after a few rolls and a lot of heart, they came to an understanding.

Chop followed Sam back to camp, dragging two dead robots behind him.

Then things got complicated.

A half-joking comment from Raven about “keeping” Chop went sideways fast. He backhanded her—not hard, but enough to draw a line. One hit. One point of damage. One very clear message: Chop is not a pet.

To everyone's credit, the tension diffused. But the moment lingers.

💤 Visions from the Cult

Later that night, Raven dreamed—or was pulled—again.

This time, she saw Clancy Manor not as ruins, but alive with firelight and activity. Cultists marched. Pyres burned. One figure in the crowd turned toward her. Just one.

She woke up with more questions than answers.

🌽 What We Learned This Week

* The scorched are still around

* Reuben’s settlement is one of the last threads of frontier life in the north

* Chop may be the most dangerous ally the party’s made

* Free Radical gangs are rumored to be pushing down from the east

* Raven’s visions are starting to feel more like warnings than memories

The crew’s presence here changes things. People are watching—some with hope, some with fear.

Overseer's Log: Can We Get A Studio Vault?

Sat, 07 Jun 2025 23:21:09 GMT

Don’t forget to show this video some love with a Like and a comment to beat back the algorithm beast!

In this episode, I delve into the intricacies of our evolving show landscape, specifically focusing on our upcoming series, Vault Broadcast, and the transition to new recording software that will enhance our production quality. We explore my recent switch from OBS to Ecamm Live, a move influenced by our need for more streamlined guest interviews and better audio capturing capabilities. This new software allows us to create inviting overlays for our broadcasts and ensures a smoother experience for both hosts and guests. I discuss the surprising adaptability of Ecamm Live and its potential to transform our creative workflow, making it easier and more efficient.

The conversation then shifts to discussing the exciting prospects of moving our operations into a dedicated studio space. My commitment to finding a suitable location stems from past challenges with housing and recording environments, as I want to nurture creativity without interrupting the lives of those around me. I describe a recent studio tour that exceeded my expectations, detailing its quiet, isolated setting, ample ethernet ports—ideal for a tech-heavy production environment—and the potential for versatile setups. This space offers more than just a physical backdrop; it symbolizes the next phase in our production journey, encouraging collaboration and community engagement.

💰 Become a member on Ko-fi

In detailing our programming schedule, I outline the various projects currently in motion, from our three-hour Tales from Tomorrow TTRPG series to the behind-the-scenes C.A.S.E. Review for our paid members. My excitement builds as I share updates on planned summer campaign series and the prop unboxing segments featured on my YouTube channel. I reflect on how these multiple initiatives not only diversify content but also allow for increased interaction and feedback from our audience.

The episode further introduces our strategies for audience engagement, especially the importance of timely interactions on platforms like YouTube. I emphasize how your likes and comments can dramatically influence our reach, highlighting the algorithmic nature of content discovery. Alongside mentioning our Ko-fi membership tiers, I explain how these contributions will help facilitate the transition to a dedicated studio and enhance our video and audio output.

As we move through the discussion, I acknowledge that the road ahead, including scheduling interviews and output consistency, presents its own challenges but also exciting opportunities for growth. I also touch upon the integration of new tools like Voice Cast, which will allow audience members to submit audio messages—inviting them into our creative process and giving them a stake in our narrative development.

In closing, I reaffirm the collaborative spirit of this project. Your support—whether through direct contributions or by spreading the word about our content—enriches this creative journey and helps build a strong community around the worlds we are crafting. With your assistance, I aim to propel our collective story forward, leading to more engaging and immersive experiences for all involved, as we embark on this thrilling chapter together.

S1 The journey thus far....

Thu, 05 Jun 2025 19:10:00 GMT

In this episode, we slow things down a bit—just a few of us gathered around the digital table for a catch-up session in our Fallout TTRPG campaign. Before we dive in, I talk briefly about the launch of Vault Broadcast, our new creator-focused Fallout podcast. We’ve got our very first guest lined up this week: a talented prop maker known for their insane Nuka-Cola armor builds. Couldn’t be more excited to kick this off.

Back in the Wasteland, it’s Sky, DarkKnight, and Mac holding things down. Mac joins us despite feeling under the weather—trooper as always. This session gave us a chance to reflect, revisit some core story beats, and bring new or returning viewers back up to speed on where the hell we are in the world of Tales From Tomorrow.

We get into some good character moments:

Sky’s PC is facing down some dark realities—both in the world and within themselves.DarkKnight’s finally starting to click with the system and opens up about his character’s past (and why he’s so cagey).Mac leans into her cultist roots and how that’s affecting group dynamics.

The big themes here? Survival, trust, moral gray zones—classic Fallout. We dig into the weight of player choices and how the story pivots depending on what they do. There's a great back-and-forth about whether certain actions were justified, including one violent decision that's still echoing through the community they’re trying to build.

I also talk a bit about GM’ing Fallout—why improvisation matters, and how good players shape the world as much as I do. We cover lore beats, future threats, and where we might be headed next. (Let’s just say the Mothman cult isn't done with us yet.)

As always, the session ends with a look ahead—more episodes coming, more ways for the audience to join in, and a bigger focus on community storytelling across all our shows. If you’ve been following Tales From Tomorrow, this is a great checkpoint episode to re-sync with the group and peek behind the curtain a bit.

Summer Campaign Series - Meet & Greet 3

Mon, 02 Jun 2025 19:00:00 GMT

In this episode of our Summer Campaign Series, we talk about player character death and morality in Fallout TTRPGs. I share my perspective as a GM on how player attitudes toward character mortality have shifted, especially in high-stakes systems like Fallout and Pathfinder. We dig into how choices shape faction relationships, moral tension, and long-term consequences. Plus, a quick update on our ongoing storyline—including the battle for Watoga—and an invite to our upcoming community rewatch of the Fallout TV series to deepen our shared storytelling toolbox.

Meet & Greet 3: On Death, Consequences, and Moral Weight in Fallout TTRPGs

This week’s episode is a shorter one—some of our regulars were out on vacation—but the conversation still dives deep. We focus on something I think a lot of GMs wrestle with: how do we handle player character death and moral consequences in a way that feels earned?

Our returning guest Neri kicks things off with a great question about how I handle character death at the table. Especially in systems like Fallout 2d20 or high-level Pathfinder, where things can get pretty lethal, it’s something I’ve learned to talk about openly with players. Unlike fantasy games where resurrection magic can undo a death, Fallout has a different tone—death tends to be final, and that changes how players think about risk.

It’s been interesting to watch how attitudes shift. Early on, some players were really protective of their characters—understandably so, after putting in time and backstory. But over time, the table's gotten more comfortable with the idea that death (or long-term injury) can actually deepen the story. Especially in our upcoming three-shot arcs, we’re embracing the idea that death is on the table—and that makes every choice feel a little more real.

We also talk about how consequences don’t always have to mean death. Drawing inspiration from systems like Blades in the Dark, I’ve started introducing lasting injuries and scars that carry forward into future scenes. It’s a way to add narrative weight without always ending a character’s arc. Fallout is great for that—it’s already a world full of trauma and survival, so leaning into those gritty details just makes sense.

The conversation naturally steers toward factions and politics—two things Fallout thrives on. We discuss how player decisions affect their standing with groups like raiders or the Brotherhood, and how small choices can spiral into major shifts in the campaign world. There’s a lot of tension between doing what’s right and doing what’s necessary in the Wasteland, and that’s the kind of stuff I love exploring with players.

We also touch on a few current threads in the campaign—especially the ongoing mission to retake Watoga. There’s a looming sense that failure is possible, and that tension creates some of the best moments at the table. What happens if the players don’t succeed? What happens if the city falls? Fallout doesn’t shy away from those questions—and neither do we.

To wrap things up, I mention something we’re doing soon: a community rewatch of the Fallout TV series. It’s not just for fun (though it will be); it’s a chance to look at how the show handles tone, pacing, and worldbuilding—and maybe steal a few tricks for our own campaigns.

All in all, this was a reflective episode—less crunchy mechanics, more storytelling philosophy. If you’re a GM, writer, or just someone who loves post-apocalyptic roleplay, this one’s worth a listen.

S1E15 - Terms of Protection

Wed, 21 May 2025 18:00:00 GMT

Greetings, fellow Vault Dwellers! This week’s episode set sail on a high-stakes journey as our brave wastelanders made their final preparations in the resilient town of Hope. After some light bartering, weapons-checking, and survivalist squabbling, the crew elected to name a new captain for their beloved metal fishing boat… none other than Alfred, the ever-capable Mr. Handy!

But before shoving off, there was one piece of unfinished business: the Orb Cultists.

You remember them — the orb-loving mystics the team graciously stashed just down the block? Upon checking in, the team found them busy with morning prayer… but any hope for a peaceful moment evaporated when Jim, in true scientist fashion, attempted to confiscate their sacred relic for further examination. The result? Gunfire. Screaming. Mayor S.M.I.L.E.s is going to have questions about this.

After leaving a very literal mark on the neighborhood, our crew paid a visit to their feral-ghoul friend Marcus the Mailman, still haunting the ruins with packages in hand.

Our team shoved off, but they weren’t alone. Rusty Dusty Bones, the friendly ghoul farmer and trader, hitched a ride — with his ever-loyal brahmin Betsy in tow — as the boat glided down the murky waters of the Ohio River.Their destination: the West Virginia Lumber Mill, home of the Free Radicals.

There, Sam and Jim met with “The Boss”, the grizzled leader of the Radicals. A proposal was made: Hope would gain protection… if they bent the knee. Sam, ever the diplomat, radioed back to Tom Clifton in Hope for advice. In the end, he refused the offer — but not without cost.An emotional exchange with Rusty left Sam shaken, uncertain where he stood in the growing storm of post-war power struggles.

With that, the group returned to the boat — their eyes set southward, the sun bleeding orange across the sky.

Where does the river lead next? What new allies — or enemies — await them further down the stream? And will Jim ever stop touching sacred objects?

S1E14 - The Cost of Salvation

Wed, 14 May 2025 18:00:00 GMT

In this week's thrilling episode of “Tales from Tomorrow: Under the Mothman's Embrace,” our heroes departed the abandoned Drumlin Diner with the Orb Cultists in tow. The group headed across the Ohio River bridge and then traveled south by fishing boat to recover their damaged APC from the Mothman cultists' beachhead. Despite careful preparation with a winch, tragedy struck when two Orb Cultists were fatally crushed and another seriously injured during the recovery operation. Seemingly unfazed, the Orb Cultists said this was the will of the Orb, smiled, cheered, and moved on. Jim took command of the APC's return journey while Sam accompanied the remaining cultists by boat.

Back in Hope, the team met with Rusty and Tom before conducting a crucial town hall meeting. There, they formulated their next mission: a vital expedition into Appalachia's heart to secure vaccines against the Scorch Plague and potentially gain support from Foundation. The episode concluded with our players engaging in bartering and trading, preparing for the adventures that await them in the wasteland.

S1E12 - The Price of Victory - Fallout TTRPG Actual Play Series

Wed, 30 Apr 2025 18:00:00 GMT

On this week's thrilling episode of "Tales from Tomorrow: Under the Mothman's Embrace," our heroes found themselves in a desperate situation at the Mothman beachhead. With Sam unconscious on the Ohio River's shore and Jim confronting a power-armored Mothman cultist in the cabin, Raven raced to join the fray. Despite their best efforts, including Raven's attempted frag grenade, the cultist proved formidable in his armor. The tables turned dramatically when the cultist's own grenade left both Raven and Jim mortally wounded.

In a moment of crisis, Jim managed to save himself with a Super Stimpak while Raven, channeling the Mothman's power, pushed the cultist into the river below. Their victory led them to discover Lena, wounded inside an APC, which they could only access thanks to Raven's power armor enhancements.

Deciding to leave the overturned APC for later, the team boarded their vessel with Jim at the helm, setting course for Hope. During their journey, two significant events unfolded: Raven, exposed to mysterious purple powder in the ship's hold, experienced an intriguing encounter with Brother Errol, while Sam engaged in a conversation with Modus over the ship's radio.

Join us next week as we discover Lena's fate and determine if their hard-won prize was worth the perilous encounter.

S1E11 - The Beachhead Battle - A Fallout TTRPG Actual Play Series

Wed, 16 Apr 2025 18:00:00 GMT

In this week's thrilling episode of "Tales from Tomorrow: Under the Mothman's Embrace," our intrepid survivors faced the aftermath of a devastating root fire at Hope's police station. Alfred and a fellow Protectron emerged from the ashes, having contained the blaze but leaving much rebuilding ahead.

With Jim recovering from illness, the team gathered at the church-turned-meeting-hall to strategize their assault on the Mothman cultists' beachhead. Sam dispatched a warning to Foundation while assembling a strike team including Lena, Hells Bells, Alfred, and local soldiers.

The assault began with an APC approach, but the cultists proved unnaturally aware. Two mystical cultists, visibly “immune” to both cannon fire and minigun rounds, approached the vehicle. In a display of otherworldly power, they ensnared the APC in massive roots then hurled it aside, trapping Lena within.

While Sam and Jim cleared the southern defenses, Raven engaged the supernatural cultists. One burst into moths and vanished into the forest when shot center mass, while another crumbled to dirt when headshot. The team converged on the boat, where Sam encountered a Mothman cultist in raider power armor. Despite landing a lucky shotgun blast, aided by the mysterious stranger, Sam was thrown through the bridge window onto the shore below, seemingly unconscious.

We leave our daring adventurers at this crucial moment: Lena trapped in the damaged APC, Sam unconscious on the riverbank, and Jim and Raven facing down a power-armored zealot - with the prize of the boat hanging in the balance. Tune in next time for another thrilling episode of "Tales from Tomorrow: Under the Mothman's Embrace!"

S1E10 - The Enlightened and The Dim

Wed, 09 Apr 2025 18:00:00 GMT

⚠️ Before we jump into it, I wanted to mention that I’ve attempted to cut the silence out of the podcast version of this episode (not YouTube). If you hear any issues in the playback, please let me know! The YouTube version does not have silence removed.

In our latest episode of Tales from Tomorrow: Under the Mothman's Embrace, our intrepid heroes continue their investigation of the mysterious Mothman cult. Picking up where we left off outside the church, the team launches a bold reconnaissance mission to the cult’s beachhead.

During their mission, Sam and Raven successfully capture two cultists. However, the most intriguing development comes when Raven attempts to commune with the Mothman. In a mystical experience, her consciousness is transported to the woods where she encounters Observer Errol, an enlightened cultist who reveals her crucial role in upcoming events.

The enlightened cultist instructs Raven to eliminate the "unholy" Dim Mothman cultists and recruit the town of Hope to their cause. The team's return journey is complicated when Jim falls ill with a mysterious ailment, forcing him to rest during the following day's training exercises, though Sam and Raven excel in their combat preparations.

Events take a dark turn when Sam and Raven attempt to interrogate their captive cultists at the jail, where they find Mayor Smiles reciting U.S. history alongside a Protectron guard. Despite one cultist's (un)willingness to talk, negotiations break down when Sam escalates the interrogation. In a shocking turn, the second cultist commits ritual suicide, his body erupting into supernatural vines that breach the building's foundation.

Quick thinking leads Raven to combat the spreading vines with her newly acquired flamer. While successful in containing the threat, the defensive measure sets the building ablaze. The team manages to evacuate and summon Alfred and another Protectron, who extinguish the flames - but this encounter leaves us with more questions than answers. Where is the remaining cultist? What does Errol mean when he says great changes are coming to Appalachia? Find out on next week’s episode of Tales from Tomorrow!

S1E9 - The Last Postman

Wed, 02 Apr 2025 18:00:00 GMT

On this week's thrilling episode of Tales from Tomorrow: Under the Mothman's Embrace...

The morning began with our intrepid team preparing for the upcoming town hall meeting. Raven found herself reminiscing about past battles in the APC, eager to test its capabilities. Meanwhile, Jim and Sam shared a moment with Rusty in the cafeteria before joining Raven to investigate the mysterious mailroom they'd discovered the previous night.

Tales From Tomorrow - A Fallout TTRPG Story is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Inside the postal facility, the team encountered two significant discoveries. Behind the postmaster's office door lay the body of Harrison Whitmore, while Jim's exceptional hacking abilities granted them access to the facility's computer mainframe. This breakthrough revealed crucial personnel files and a regional mail registry, providing insight into package movements throughout the area.

Just as they uncovered a promising floor safe, an unexpected sound drew their attention. Sam and Raven, investigating through the back parking lot, found themselves face-to-face with a haunting sight in the mail room - a feral ghoul, still dutifully performing his pre-war duties, sorting and stacking mail in his tattered postal uniform.

This was Marcus, once an over-achieving postal worker whose dedication to his job proved tragically eternal. Scheduled for termination before the bombs fell, fate had cruelly bound him to his duties for centuries. In an unexpected turn of events, the team chose mercy over violence, and Marcus, in a rare display of cognizance, rewarded their compassion with valuable supplies, including a coveted holotape player.

With their unlikely new ally secured and more questions than answers, the trio made their way to the church. There, Tom and the mayor led a crucial town hall meeting where a decisive plan emerged: the town would dedicate the next day to training and preparation, readying themselves for an assault on The Mothman Cultist's beachhead.

S1E8 - (Em)Powering Hope

Wed, 26 Mar 2025 18:00:00 GMT

In this week’s episode of Tales from Tomorrow, our intrepid heroes Raven, Sam, and their Settler companions braved the wasteland, their hard-won treasures secured in their APC and Brahmin caravan as they journeyed northward to the town of Hope. Thanks to Raven's razor-sharp instincts and Lena’s masterful piloting, the team navigated the roads with precision and ease.

Along their journey to Hope, a shocking revelation: Rusty shared news of the Free Radicals' failed mission to retrieve a boat, their scavenging party falling prey to mysterious Mothmen cultists who may now possess their power armor! This intel sparked immediate interest from Raven, who huddled with Rusty, Sam, and Jim to strategize their next move.

Tales From Tomorrow - A Fallout TTRPG Story is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Meanwhile, Jim put his technical expertise to work, using salvaged components from the Red Rocket Station to complete the vital windmill project. Though their attempts to repair the APC's radio with Lena only yielded receiving capabilities, it marked a crucial step forward for the settlement.

The team's recent expedition bore more fruit as Jacob, Hope's resident doctor, nearly jumped for joy at Sam's gift - a pristine microscope from MODUS's radio base. In gratitude, he supplied Sam with essential medical supplies: RadAway, Rad-X, and a Stimpak.

But perhaps the most exciting development came when Raven, with Sam's silver-tongued support, secured an impressive arsenal upgrade - negotiating both a devastating Flamer and a Legendary Kneecapper Hunting Rifle from Rusty's collection!

Kneecapper: “A Kneecapper weapon does exactly as the name promises! When this weapon is used to make an attack against a target's leg, it causes a critical hit if it inflicts 3 or more damage (after reductions for damage reduction).”

Next Steps:

As danger looms from the Mothmen cultists and the Free Radicals' failure raises the stakes, the team must strategize to protect Hope and their hard-won treasures. With alliances strengthening and tools at their disposal, the wastelanders prepare for whatever comes next.

Stay tuned for Tales from Tomorrow: Under the Mothman's Embrace to see how our heroes rise to the challenge.

S1E7 - Bloatfly Bonanza

Wed, 12 Mar 2025 19:00:00 GMT

In tonight's thrilling episode of Tales from Tomorrow, our heroes Sam and Raven faced an unexpected threat when a trader by the name of Chuck inadvertently led a menacing swarm of bloat flies to their location. Despite his initial blunder, Chuck's arrival proved timely as he helped isolate the APC's power issues. Armed with a weak fusion core, Chuck managed to get one of the APC's weapons operational - allowing the team to confront the dangerous swarm he had accidentally attracted.

With Raven manning the formidable 105mm gun, the team successfully obliterated a massive swarm of bloat flies. Though Chuck sustained some injuries in the initial confrontation, quick application of a Stimpak and brief rest proved sufficient for recovery. Their victory yielded an impressive haul: 15 pieces of bloat fly meat and bloat fly glands.

The arrival of Tom, Lena, and Rusty Dusty Bones, and their guard contingent proved fortuitous. The team successfully salvaged the generator from the Red Rocket Station, and thanks to Chuck's expertise regarding the APC, Sam and Raven journeyed alongside Rusty Dusty Bones to the West Virginia Lumber Mill. This expedition served a dual purpose - trading for a much-needed fusion core while building goodwill with the Free Radical Raiders and alerting them to the troubles plaguing Hope.

Looking ahead to our next episode, anticipation builds as our heroes prepare to reunite with Lena and Tom. With the potential to finally restore power to the APC, our wasteland wanderers may soon venture northward into unknown territories.

Fri, 07 Mar 2025 18:00:00 GMT

Hey Wastelanders, due to some unexpected real-life events this past week, I had to leave my previous housing situation for safety reasons. Thanks to my amazing friends, I'm now in a secure place.

I recorded this episode just hours before these events unfolded. Please enjoy the content, and know that we'll resume our regular schedule either this Sunday or next. I'm currently setting up my studio and expect to be ready by this Sunday.

Here's a brief recap of TFT S1E6:

Short: Sam and Raven scavenge for generator parts, discover an inoperable APC, and gather supplies from MODUS, including a microscope and a compound bow upgrade, while navigating dangers in the wasteland and facing the growing threat of Mothman cultists. Join their adventures live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET.

Long: On last week’s thrilling episode of Tales from Tomorrow, our intrepid duo Sam and Raven awoke at the Red Rocket Station, eager to scavenge the surrounding vehicles for generator parts. After a close call with a fusion core meltdown triggered by Raven, they became considerably more selective in their salvaging efforts.

Their search led them to an intriguing discovery - an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) across the street. Thanks to Sam's pre-war military experience, he successfully pried open a rusty hatch to inspect the remarkably well-preserved interior, protected from the harsh wasteland elements.

Despite the vehicle's promising condition, Sam and Raven couldn't get it operational. They pivoted their plans, heading to Rusty Bones to report their generator discovery and coordinate with Hope. The town agreed to dispatch a team, complete with a Brahmin and cart, to retrieve one of the generators.

Their journey then took them to MODUS, hoping to analyze their mysterious food sample from Hope's Slocum Joe's. While MODUS couldn't directly examine the material, he provided them with a microscope for Jacob's research. The visit proved fruitful - Raven received an impressive upgrade - a compound bow, and the team acquired valuable supplies: two Salisbury Steaks, four boxes of Blamco Mac and Cheese, and two robot repair kits to keep their mechanical companion Alfred in prime condition.

S1E5 - Ghouls, Gears, and Generators!

Wed, 19 Feb 2025 22:00:00 GMT

Greetings, Wastelanders! The latest episode of Tales from Tomorrow took our heroes on a split journey between the development of Hope and the dangers of the wasteland. In town, Jim, recovering steadily, oversaw the ambitious windmill construction project. (DarKnight was absent this week and next, so this was a great way to write his character out). The team also made significant upgrades to Alfred, their trusty Mr. Handy, who now boasts a cryojet arm designed for specialized utility.

Meanwhile, Sam and Raven tackled a troubling mystery at the local jail. A prisoner, after consuming a pink substance from the local Slocum Joe's, showed signs of a ghoul transformation. Leveraging Sam’s medical expertise and Raven’s sharp observational skills, they collected critical samples of the substance and the affected individual’s blood for deeper study, hinting at a potentially larger threat.

The duo’s journey then shifted southward as they pursued components for the windmill. Their path led them to a Red Rocket station near the West Virginia lumber mill. This site, marked by their ally Tom, presented a new challenge. Sam’s technical and diplomatic skills shone as he disarmed a bomb rigged by the station’s raiders, earning their trust and securing access to the lumber mill through a crucial password. Raven, ever vigilant, provided overwatch and later demonstrated her precision by disarming a fragmentation mine. Together, the pair salvaged key resources, including a pristine assault rifle, from a nearby military checkpoint.

As the sun set over the wasteland, the team regrouped at the Red Rocket station to take inventory of their spoils, marking another successful yet sobering day in their relentless pursuit of survival and progress.

Stay tuned for more as the mysteries deepen and the stakes continue to rise. Live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET, "Tales from Tomorrow" is your gateway to adventure in the post-apocalyptic frontier. Don’t miss out, wastelanders!

S1E4 - Mayor for a Day!

Wed, 12 Feb 2025 19:00:00 GMT

Greetings, wastelanders! As the journey unfolds in the latest episode of Tales from Tomorrow, our crew at Hope takes their first steps toward rebuilding and expanding their settlement, all while encountering new challenges and mysteries. Here's what went down:

After arriving at Hope, Jim, still recovering from debilitating injuries, found himself assisting Raven and Sam in constructing their first major addition to the settlement—a trade caravan outpost. Proving resourcefulness knows no bounds, Jim devised a plan to attach a windmill to the outpost, conserving precious resources for future projects.

The next day, with Jim still recovering, Raven and Sam ventured into the wilderness for hunting and foraging, their journey leading them toward the enigmatic Ohio Bridge. After Raven collected some Soot Flower (known to some as Hubflowers, they stumbled upon two individuals who appeared to be members of a strange cult devoted to something called "The Orb." Despite the eerie overtones, these cultists were surprisingly polite, even inviting Raven and Sam back to their residence for a meal.

As if that weren't enough intrigue, the team had previously detected a mysterious signal emanating from beyond the Ohio Bridge. With this discovery, plans began to form—could these cultists be deprogrammed and integrated into the growing settlement at Hope? Sam and Raven seem determined to find out.

Of course, Raven proved her skill in the field yet again, securing Radstag meat to sustain the crew for the days ahead. And Jim managed to repair enough Stimpaks at Jacob’s clinic to earn himself a Super Stimpak and two others to spare.

What lies beyond the Ohio Bridge? Will the enigmatic orb cultists become allies or adversaries? And how will the settlement at Hope continue to grow under these challenging circumstances?

S1E3 - A Perilous Return to Hope

Thu, 06 Feb 2025 00:00:00 GMT

In this week's thrilling episode, our intrepid wasteland warriors continued their saga with wounds still fresh from their Wendigo encounter. Jim, still recovering from a broken arm from last week's showdown, was supported by his fellow survivors as they made their way back to the Rusty Dusty Bones' farm - a haven in the radioactive wilderness.

Despite Rusty's tempting array of legendary equipment, our pragmatic heroes opted for essential supplies instead. Loading up on rad-X, Stimpaks, and ammunition, they prepared for the journey ahead. With their newfound companions Hell’s Bells and Lena, they set out after a night's rest.

A Growing Caravan of Hope

Fortune smiled upon our travelers when they encountered a group of wandering settlers. Thanks to Sam's silver tongue, four of the six settlers joined their cause, swelling their numbers from five to nine. But the wasteland had another surprise in store - a familiar band of raiders!

Encountering a group of raiders on their path caused initial concern, but these wasteland warriors proved surprisingly friendly. The meeting ended on positive terms, with the raiders accepting Sam's suggestion to visit Rusty Dusty Bones and receiving an open invitation to Hope.

Home Sweet Hope

The final leg of their journey proved mercifully uneventful, save for some profitable scavenging from abandoned vehicles. Upon reaching Hope, the group split up - Jim and Raven sought medical attention at Jacob's clinic, while Sam and Lena headed west to meet with Tom.

The town had undergone some fascinating changes during their absence. The old church now serves as the community's meeting hall, complete with a bulletin board for local quests. Perhaps most intriguingly, Hope now boasts its very own Protectron, equipped with Vault-Tec's latest S.M.I.L.E. system to help manage the settlement.

As night fell over Hope, our weary travelers finally found their rest. The town's spirits lifted at the return of their champions, marking a successful end to another chapter in their post-apocalyptic odyssey.

Overseer's Log 2 - The Mine and the Mindful

Sat, 01 Feb 2025 19:34:26 GMT

Current Situation:

* The party is in the Magic Grotto facing a Wendigo

* Hells Bells has been stabilized by Sam

* Conventional weapons are proving ineffective against the Wendigo

* The team has discovered an untouched, radiation-free section of the cave

In this week's thrilling episode of "Tales from Tomorrow," our intrepid adventurers faced a deadly encounter with an unstoppable Wendigo in the mysterious Magic Grotto. The creature, having already attacked their friend Hell's Bells, proved remarkably resilient - shrugging off everything from flaming arrows to bullets with its regenerative abilities.

The situation grew dire when Jim suffered severe injuries, including a broken arm and lacerated leg, from the Wendigo's merciless attack. In a moment of incredible bravery, Raven executed a desperate gambit. She laid a bottlecap mine and, in a daring maneuver, leaped over her own trap to draw the creature's attention away from her wounded companion.

While Jim managed to escape to safety, Raven made the ultimate sacrifice - triggering the mine herself. The resulting explosion left her buried under rubble, barely clinging to life. Thanks to the quick action of her fellow wastelanders, both Raven and Hell's Bells were stabilized and rescued.

Despite their wounds, the team's ordeal wasn't without reward. They discovered an untouched, radiation-free section of the cave that promises new mysteries to explore. The harrowing experience has strengthened our survivors, with each member gaining a level and new perks to choose from in the coming week.

Join us next week as our heroes recover from their wounds and uncover more secrets in the depths of Appalachia!

S1E2 - The Mine and the Mindful

Wed, 29 Jan 2025 06:17:19 GMT

In this week's thrilling episode of "Tales from Tomorrow," our intrepid adventurers found themselves locked in mortal combat with a Wendigo. The creature, having just feasted upon their friend Hell's Bells, proved more resilient than ever — its mysterious hide and regenerative abilities allowing it to shrug off everything from flaming arrows to bullets.

With conventional weapons proving ineffective and party members taking severe damage, our wastelanders hatched a desperate plan. Raven decided to lay a bottlecap mine in hopes of ending the creature's reign of terror. However, fate had other plans — a brief miscommunication led to Jim accidentally catching the Wendigo's attention.

Thanks for reading Tales From Tomorrow - A Fallout TTRPG Story! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

The beast proved merciless, breaking Jim's arm and viciously lacerating his leg. In a moment of incredible bravery, Raven ventured into the very hallway she had booby-trapped. Leaping over her own landmine, she hurled a bottle and brandished a flare, successfully drawing the creature's attention away from her wounded comrade.

This distraction gave Jim the chance to hobble to safety. But dear listeners, what happened next would make even the most hardened Super Mutant's knees weak — Raven triggered the mine herself, resulting in a massive explosion that left her buried under rubble, barely clinging to life.

Thanks to the unwavering dedication of her fellow wastelanders, Raven was pulled from the debris and stabilized. We leave our comrades this week alive, though gravely wounded, their ordeal rewarded with both the riches hidden within the cave and an untouched grotto ripe for exploration.

Their friend Hell's Bells was also rescued and will likely return with them to the town of Hope. The harrowing experience has strengthened our survivors, with each member of the party gaining a level and new perks to choose from in the coming week. But that, dear listeners, is a story for another day. Join us next week for another thrilling episode of "Tales from Tomorrow," brought to you by Vault-Tec — preparing for tomorrow, today!

S1E1 - Through Purple Colored Eyes

Wed, 22 Jan 2025 15:00:00 GMT

Greetings, fellow Vault Dwellers! In this week's pulse-pounding episode of "Tales from Tomorrow: Under the Mothman’s Embrace," our brave survivors found themselves deep within the treacherous depths of the Wendigo's Cave - a twisted mockery of what pre-war tourists once called the Magic Grotto.

The cave, now a haunting testament to atomic devastation, bears the toxic scars of nuclear waste and hazardous materials. Our team tracked their missing companion through dangerously irradiated chambers, where even the most hardy RadAway wouldn't keep you safe for long.

In a desperate gambit, Raven armed a fragmentation mine and attempted to throw it strategically, hoping to cause a controlled cave-in that would contain the radioactive barrels. The throw went awry, with the mine bouncing off the wall and detonating in an unintended location. The resulting explosion did trigger a cave-in, but not as planned - instead of containing the radiation, it collapsed the hallway, giving the Wendigo the perfect opportunity to escape with its still-unidentified victim.

Through the settling dust, Raven caught sight of something extraordinary - the legendary purple eyes of the Mothman, beckoning her toward a collapsed section of wall that crumbled at her approach. Like a true scout, she squeezed through the jagged opening, following this mysterious guide.

What she discovered next would make even the most jaded Wastelander gasp - a pristine grotto untouched by radiation, teeming with pre-war life! But there was no time to admire the view - the hunt for the Wendigo continued.

Following a glowing moth through the darkness, Raven soon reunited with Sam, who had carved his own path through the cave system with Jim's expertise. Their reunion was cut short by their target - the dreaded Wendigo itself! Jim and trusty Alfred (our favorite Mr. Handy) rushed to join the fray, with Alfred braving the radiation while Jim navigated the maze-like tunnels.

And now, dear listeners, we leave our heroes in quite the predicament! Sam managed to stabilize Hells Bells’ wounds, saving her from becoming the Wendigo's dinner, but their weapons seem about as effective as throwing Fancy Lad Snack Cakes at a Super Mutant. How will our wastelanders defeat this pre-war terror, this embodiment of atomic age greed?
