Late Night Ludbridge

Single-voiced Horror Anthology Audio Drama

Synopsis:

I came into possession of some old CDs recently at a local car boot sale. They appear to contain snippets of an old Shropshire-based late-night local radio segment. Guy I got them from said they'd been with his family for years gathering dust. Said he was moving out of the area and needed to shift the things, I thought why not?

Did my best to clean the audio up a bit, think they sound pretty cool, nice bit of history with a spooky twist!

Late Night Ludbridge Ep 3

Wed, 14 Feb 2024 15:18:56 GMT

Hey folks, long time no see! Apologies it’s taken me so long to get this new one out, the new year left me with lots to do and I only managed to get back around to this stuff recently. I’ve also not been sleeping too well either, which has made things a bit difficult.

Anyway, here’s a very special Valentines Day upload for you all (though I’m not sure how romantic this actually is)- I’ve spent the majority of my time today finishing the editing on this one, which should give you a bit of a window into what my situation regarding all that jazz is lol.

Chunky one this time, the first of the “new format” that John came up with last time. A story from Elana, she seems to be frequently mentioned if the scant other bits of audio I’ve yet to master are anything to go by. Come to think of it, I dunno if John really mentions anyone else.

Creepy story aside, I noticed something strange towards the end of this one which I’ve kept in for you all. The distortion from last time is back, more pronounced this time. It’s definitely another signal breaking through, some kind of emergency warning? And then there’s the other stuff… the stuff after it... I dunno. Thinking about it makes me uneasy.

I managed to check in with the local library back home over Christmas. Turned up no mention of Ludbridge at all. Perhaps I’ve stumbled across some elaborate family in-joke? I’ve been thinking I should probably get in contact with the guy I got these tapes off of, maybe he’ll have some answers.

Speak soon.

Late Night Ludbridge Ep 2

Here's the next bit of the audio I got around to clearing up. Having a lot of fun doing this. Seems to be a bit of a different vibe this time around, a bit of listener interaction.

There's a really odd bit of distortion here, like for a second another broadcast breaks through entirely, decided to leave it in because thought it was kind of a cool artefact, if a bit eerie.

The whole thing's a bit odd, truth be told, John seems to go off on some mad tangent at the end for some reason. It's like he breaks character.

Stranger still is that, after showing my parents the previous episode, I asked if they'd ever heard of the programme. They hadn't, understandably, bit of a shot in the dark, but then I did some digging.

Ludbridge doesn't exist. Not in Shropshire anyway. It's not on any map I can find. I'm gonna look into this a bit more, maybe check out some historical records, but I'm uploading this fairly late and I'm pretty tired. Maybe it was a pretty small place and it got missed? I dunno, I'm no cartographer.

Anyways hope you enjoy this one as odd as it is by comparison to the last one.
