The Cleveland Melonheads

Fri, 11 Apr 2025 05:00:00 -0400

You've heard the stories about alien-like beasts roaming around on the outskirts of Cleveland Ohio. Legend has it they used to be orphaned children experimented on by an evil doctor, then turned loose and left to go feral in the woods.

Well, that's all nonsense. Today we bring you the true story of the Cleveland Melonheads, as told by the man behind the legend.

Doomscrolling in the Dark

Fri, 14 Mar 2025 05:00:00 -0400

"Growing up with violence, with inescapable expertly choreographed brutality in every home builds not only a kind of desensitization for it, but it also creates a market for violent entertainment by people for whom even what they see on television is not enough, is not graphic enough, is not explicit enough, and some movie productions, some big productions really cash in on that market. What is peculiar about this is that as time goes on, a greater dosage is necessary to satisfy this need."

Because You Are My Baby

Fri, 28 Feb 2025 05:00:00 -0500

There are a lot of authors who come and go on Nosleep, but u/Dopabeane has been posting on and off for nearly a decade. She's currently working on the Fuck HIPAA series, and if she's an author you haven't checked out yet, go give that a read! She was kind enough to let us use one of her biggest stories of all time for this episode, and we couldn't be more excited for you to hear it.

A Letter From Next Halloween

Fri, 25 Oct 2024 05:00:00 -0400

I wrote this story in 2016 and it's been heavily re-edited for this episode, as I now know how to use commas in a slightly less annoying way. But it is still very much a time capsule of my writing back then. It's also a bit of a time capsule of what I would call the only sort of paranormal experience I've ever had as it's (very loosely) inspired by real events. We wanted to air this story for our Halloween special because I'll be telling the real story that inspired it on a friend's podcast soon.

We are very excited to present our rendition of his story The Cave in the Lake, which follows a man who decided to reignite his passion for scuba diving, and the wonders he finds beneath the waves.

I don't know if I would describe it as a "good" story but I love it, so now you all have to listen to it (If you know what I mean).

The Eye in the Gap

Fri, 07 Jun 2024 05:00:00 -0400

Have you been listening to our show and thinking; these stories are great, but I just wish there were more run-on sentences and really drawn-out exposition? In the oldest story we've aired yet by Annie you get to hear all of that!

Really though, I wrote this one in 2017 for Nosleep under an old pen name. It was probably the story I was most proud of back then, and I'm excited to share this little glimpse into the past with you guys.

Fire Watchers

Fri, 24 May 2024 05:00:00 -0400

"Pepe looked suspiciously back every minute or so, and his eyes sought the tops of the ridges ahead. Once, on a white barren spur, he saw a black figure for a moment; but he looked quickly away, for it was one of the dark watchers. No one knew who the watchers were, nor where they lived, but it was better to ignore them and never to show interest in them. They did not bother one who stayed on the trail and minded his own business."
