Hey everyone, I realise it's our normal release day today but instead I'm hopping on to drop a wee update about what's gonna be happening with us for the rest of the year.
If you've listened to any of the post season 1 cast interviews, you'll know that we're doing a little city and faction building game before heading into season 2. Well, those are done and we've got 3 fantastic sessions recorded. There's video to accompany them too, so you'll be able to see the map developing as the games progress but I reckon the audio will also be plenty enough to understand what's going on, so I'll put that up on here too.
The bad news for you all, however is that because the sessions are much longer than our usual hour-ish slot and it doesn't really work with the game format to split them up, editing is taking a little longer than our normal episodes. That and it being video editing means it is a little more work in general anyway. So what this means is that we're going to change releases to monthly, rather than the current fortnightly drops. This is just for these next 3 episodes and then after that we'll be straight into season 2 episodes, which will be back to the original format. We've already recorded a few and I'm super pleased with how they went and really excited to get them out to you all.
If you're interested in checking out Data, Nerves and Acquisition yourselves, you can find it on my itch (bennewbon.itch.io) along with my other games, including Cybertopia, Overgrown and other bits and bobs - most of them are either PWYW or have a decent supply of community copies available, so please help yourselves! And as usual if you want to get in touch, leave a comment on the episode or contact me on Twitter or Bluesky on my handle, which is just my name bennewbon with no space or anything.
So to round it up: the first episode of Cybertopia: Data, Nerves and Acquisition will be out Tuesday 24th September and then it'll be 4 weeks to the next one and another 4 weeks later for the last one, which should then mean that the first episode of Cybertopia season 2 will go out 3rd December and then we'll be every 2 weeks from then on!

Season 1 and 2023 may be over but we're not going to let that get in the way of some Cybertopia fun, so here's part 2 of a recording of a livestream we did with some other friends.
This lot really took hold of the simple rules system and ripped it to shreds with massive modifiers and high rolls but they also really leaned into teamwork and min-maxing their characters to the perfect effects, so it's great example of some short term optimised play!

Season 1 may be over but we're going to try not to let y'all languish whilst you wait for season 2 recording to get going, so here's a recording of a livestream we did with some other friends.
Like the main cast, this lot hadn't played Cybertopia before but it's simple enough to pick up that they hit the ground running with it! AND HARD. They were told to create characters along the lines of run of the mill workers at Amazing Corps HQ and as it happens, this made them proper amazing at their specific roles! So this episode works as a surprisingly excellent way to demonstrate the power of min-maxing in this system!
