The cavemen of the planet Epsilon One, in the Epsilon galaxy, have been taught by the Gypsies to make fire and cook meat. One of the cavemen has discovered that the fire-making implement devised by Jimbird can be used was a weapon. Dolen fears the worst.

Dolen (a young runaway) and Jimbird Flyflower (a strange and knowledgeable old scientist) have stolen a rocket with the intention of landing on the moon... which they have missed! They have found their way to Miranda (the innermost and smallest of the five moons of Uranus). Back on Earth, another rocket is preparing off set off in pursuit.

The Gypsies have stolen a space rocket from the Nation Association for Research and Scientific and Technological Investigation, with the intention of landing on the moon. They have narrowly missed a collision with the moon and their course has been deflected into outer space. Back on Earth, their progress is being studied with much interest!
