Chapter 25: The Catalyst, and the Key

Paul Collins, and Garrett Franklin are at their wits end. Having stumbled through the ancient caverns and tunnels beneath The Fort, they seem no closer to finding their way out, or their purpose for being there in the first place. Plans have been laid by Mother Cyprian, with the help of Dr. Avery, but like all plans that have come before, they rarely go as planned.

Wood will rot or splinter, glass will shatter, metal will bend or break, and everything one day will return to the dust.
The world will one day return to dust, and the dead drying bones of a home, disconnected from the living dream of the world as they are, trimmed and snipped from the wilderness, sawed into lengths and shapes, hammered with iron fangs that bite until rust eventually comes to trim their length - WILL return much sooner.
The safety of a home is false comfort.

It seems, while Adam was away the Bog Witch Blackleech has been at play, pulling her strings and making moves within The Fort. But then again, how is she any different then the rest? Adam has been gone a long time, and last time he was back in The Fort, he'd foolishly assumed that the world hadn't changed without it, but it had. The scheming machinations within The Fort kept on ticking as sure as the sun kept rising, but Adam won't make that same mistake twice.

Chapter 10: The Sound of Insatiable Hunger

Alfie - The Farmer, has had a long road, and he's nowhere in sight of its end. The LaPonte Fire has taken its emotional toll on Alfie, and he continues to recede from The Fort and it's townsfolk. Now, in desperate need of conversation, he's taken to raising livestock in hopes of once again finding his purpose. But guilt seems to weigh heavy on him, and each day is harder then the last. When is enough, enough? Will Alfie find his way? Or will he be sucked back in to the more unsettling aspects of life in The Fort?
