Long ago, the Gorgeous Phoenix Brigade met a delightful hollyphant named Lulu. She was tending bar in Baldur's Gate, serving ale from her trunk.
But there was something special about her. She had a greater purpose than slinging booze. At one time, she was friends with an archangel named Zariel, but her memories of those times were gone.
Zariel had changed too, she was now the ruler of Avernus, and the city of Elturel was one of her first conquests. As the city and its people were being dragged into hell, the Gorgeous Phoenix Brigade embarked on their quest to rescue it - and with Lulu in tow, they hoped she would remember her past and help them save the city, and redeem Zariel.
Through numerous battles, and the tragic death of one of their own, the Gorgeous Phoenix Brigade and Lulu survived. And they have now made their way into the Bleeding Citadel... Who doesn't love the psychedelic grunge sounds of Washington's very own Screaming Trees? With the gritty yet supple vocals of Mark Lanegan, the Screaming Trees was arguably one of the tastiest flavors of the early 90's scene. Unfortunately, they broke up over 20 years ago - and while Lanegan's solo work has (in this author's opinion) far eclipsed his hits with the Connor brothers, neither he nor the rest of the band appears in this episode of Rated RPG. They can get soul coins if they free a Dao from her contract with Zariel, but to do that, they need to ask someone named Red Ruth how to do it. To find Red Ruth, they need to look within a maze-like murder forest... And so that's where they find themselves in this episode. The Gorgeous Phoenix Brigade continues their search for Ulder Ravenguard, the Grand Duke of Elturel. Not only can he help them in their quest to save the city of Elturel from eternal damnation, but he's likely their only hope to cure Koslo of his mummy rot.
The gents find themselves in the midst of battle with some skeletal minotaurs. Rayce still can't heal up, but they were holding their own until Glubjeg opens a curtain into an adjoining room - and MOAR ENEMIES! But, is it a deadly blunder - or - bold strategic choice?

Episode 41 - Demonic Portal Incoming

The Gorgeous Phoenix Brigade has certainly seen better days. Mummy rot and life drain has taken a great toll on the party, capping some of the character's hit points near 10hp. Unfortunately, a long rest isn't something they've got time for, because Alder Ravengard has gone missing while he was looking for the Helm of Torm's Sight.
Glubjeg's Planar Warrior / Horizon Walker ability has detected a portal somewhere in the vicinity of the small cathedral in the graveyard - so that's where they're headed.

Episode 40 - Stone Chicken Pilots

Rayce the Roaster may be out of danger, but with Koslo Ferngrove still afflicted with mummy rot, the Gorgeous Phoenix Brigade pushes onward to a creepy mausoleum in search of help for the ailing druid.
Mummy rot prohibits you from gaining hit points, so if Koslo expects to survive to find help, he should employ a strategy using his monk abilities (Ki points for dodging/disengaging) to avoid attacks, and druid wild shape to soak damage. Then again, Koslo doesn't always think things through.
Dhababbi better not get too cocky either. His high AC can't protect him from everything. And speaking of cocky, Rayce has some new tricks up his sleeve.
Also in this episode, Glubjeg finally gets to use one of his most specialized abilities!

The thing about mummy rot is that once you catch it, your clock starts ticking.
Your hit point maximum drops daily, and you can't regain hit points until the curse is removed and the disease is cured.
The Gorgeous Phoenix Brigade is in hell, a place where finding someone (or something) to remove a curse is a tall order.
Rayce the Roaster and Koslo Ferngrove both have mummy rot - and Rayce is definitely in mortal peril.
Deon and Jason have new characters rolled up... just in case.
