NOTE: This episode begins directly after the cliffhanger ending of episode 21, Gnarwhal Part 7: The Waterhorse. We recommend listening to that episode before listening to our season finale.
Trapped on Devilfish Island, Fox and I fight for our lives against the monster that took Sam Kenyon and Jake Morgan, and may soon take us all.

As the entire town mobilizes to search for the missing children, Christopher, Marguerite and Fox discover a doorway that leads to an enigmatic figure known as the Beach Witch, who warns that things may be even darker than they appear.
While the sun is shining and the islands of the bay are as perfect as a postcard, it's hard to imagine what happened in this cove. The thing that finally scared Fox into telling us about Gnarwhal. He cannot explain the strange events that occurred the day he returned here to look for the waterhorse with the intention of befriending it, so we must try.

What makes a monster a monster? Is it difference, as some believe? Is it about the harm a monster causes another? What I have learned is that monsters are often not what they seem.

"The first sign that calls you to Point Mystic you might dismiss, but you couldn't mistake the second. Not if you have ever been to the light at the end of the world.
It's a sensation that begins with the growing feeling that you belong somewhere else. Somewhere that doesn't make sense. Maybe you are standing on the edge of the woods or an abandoned field, or your own back yard. And behind you is the world you know. A world you are standing on the edge of, with all the light and the chatter, the furrowed faces and routine voices of everything you have ever known. You might even like that world, love the people in it. But in your heart, you know that you don't really fit. That you have always been on the margins of it, looking for a way in that you cannot find.
And, inexplicably, you sense the way out there. You feel it like a sensation in your chest, pulling you forward. You sense it like a familiar voice that's called your name, somewhere just beyond the trees. And you want to follow that voice. And if you have the courage to listen to it, you begin to walk into the unknown, and away from the bright lights of civilization behind you."

The same day that Fox encountered the Mystic Water Horse, a 12 year old boy went missing in our small coastal town. He had told his father that he was going to meet a friend out on the edge of Point Mystic but he never arrived at his destination.
He has disappeared without a trace.

Normally I would have Lilly Forster tell you her story, but she can’t. She’s taken a vow of silence, and the story I’m about to share with you had been relayed by writing on a notepad at a picnic table outside of our town’s lighthouse, in one of the strangest interviews I’ve gotten in this show’s history.
The story she has to tell is a hard one to take in. It involves a traveler from what may be another world, an eye transplant from what may be one of television’s most famous detectives, and the talent to see death.
On our season finale, not all who are lost… wander. It’s time to reveal the secret of Point Mystic.

As we launch the podcast version of our radio show, we had planned to rebroadcast our most popular episode from our twenty years of stories behind the magic, the mystery and the unexplained. This is not it.
We’re not sure where this episode came from, an episode dated just days ago that depicts the end of the world. I did not record this, and our world is not on fire. We are broadcasting this for you now, uncensored, in its entirety.
