Wed, 18 Feb 2026 22:59:30 GMT
In this high-stakes episode, thepolitical elite escalate their tactics from bribery to planned violence andspiritual manipulation as the election draws near.
The episode opens with Hon. Madukanaya(the antagonist politician) expressing fury over the delay in an assignment to"finish" an opponent, Majie. His henchman, Akpamgbo, reassures him that the logistics are in place to strike that very evening and"leave no traces". Beyond the immediate attack, the Hon. orders themobilization of 20 youths to cause confusion at polling units and"shut down" any locations that refuse to cooperate on election day. While Utu carries out these orders, he privately worries about the fate of Gbagagba,a fellow henchman still in police custody, fearing that the Boss willeventually abandon him as well.
In a parallel development, a "Manof God" (Pastor Cletus) visits the Hon. with a "troublingrevelation" that he will lose the election. Exploiting thepolitician's desperation, the Pastor claims the battle is a "toughspiritual" one requiring a 40-day fast. When the Hon. admits he is toobusy with the campaign to fast, the Pastor offers to have his "prayerwarriors" take on the task for a fee of 2 million Naira. The Hon.immediately transfers 2.5 million Naira, and the Pastor begins adramatic, performative prayer session.
The tension culminates when Lotannarushes to the house of the Utugbaraigwe. Sweating and fearful for his ownsafety, Lotanna warns Utugbaraigwe not to sleep in the house tonight orfor the next few days. He flees before providing full details, leaving him confusedas the threat of the evening strike looms.
The episode concludes with a sternreminder of the Electoral Act. It warns citizens that giving orcollecting money or gifts to influence a vote is a crime. The penalty for beingcaught in such acts is a fine of 500,000 Naira, one year in prison, or both. The closing theme reinforces the project's core message: that the community's future, dreams, and dignity are "Not For Sale".
Not For Sale EP 12: The Payroll of Prayer
Tue, 03 Feb 2026 11:39:31 GMT
This episode highlights the stark contrast between individuals who maintain their integrity under pressure and those who use their social influence for transactional political gain. The drama opens in a hospital, where an Hon. Madukanaya visits Majie, a victim of a violent political attack. Although the Honourable offers a bag of fruits and an envelope of money as "support," Majie and his wife, Aruude firmly reject the financial inducement. They explain that accepting money near an election creates a conflict of interest and could be seen as an illegal inducement. Majie, a retired magistrate, well-versed in the Electoral Act, reminds the visitor that making any gift, loan, or promise to induce a person for an election return is a crime carrying a maximum fine of 500,000 Naira, 12 months imprisonment, or both. To ensure their independence, Majie even instructs his wife to throw away the fruits after the Honourable leaves, reaffirming the series' theme that their conscience is "not for sale". In a contrasting scene, Honourable visits Pastor Cletus to seek his "crowd-controlling" influence for the upcoming election. The Pastor is initially angry, feeling neglected since the last election cycle. However, the conflict is not over morality, but the size of the bribe; the Pastor is insulted by a 200,000 Naira offering, noting that other politicians have placed their "pastors and prophets on monthly payrolls". Once the Honourable agrees to put him on a regular payroll, the Pastor’s spirit is "quickly" moved to offer prayers and a blessing for the candidate’s campaign. The narrative then shifts to a discussion between two men regarding Gbagagba, a political thug currently suffering in police detention. They observe that Bangab’s boss, Hon. Madukanaya, has completely abandoned him, leaving him to face the law alone while the politician continues his campaign. The men conclude that politicians often use the youth as "tools" for their evil deeds by making them believe there are no meaningful jobs available. The episode concludes with a stern warning to the audience to "shine your eye". It reminds citizens that any gift received during an election cycle—be it money, food, or even fruit—can be a trap and a crime. The final message urges the community to refuse to sell their conscience for peanuts, as power gained through bribery and broken promises will never lead to true progress.
The drama was created and produced by Chris Sanctus Okereke, written by Ikechukwu Odum, Hillary Chukwu, and Godswill Egede. Listen now, follow, and join the dialogue.

NOT FOR SALE EP 5: The Cost of Compromise
Sun, 07 Dec 2025 07:00:01 GMT
This episode of Not for Sale focuses on the intertwined issues of election malpractice, economic hardship, and community integrity. The episode highlights the consequences of selling votes, framed against the backdrop of a potential teachers' strike threatened by unpaid salary arrears. Characters debate the value of voting for credible candidates ("Utugbaraigwe") versus those who distribute immediate financial incentives and material gifts like rice and wrappers ("Madukanaya" or "Honorable"). A key confrontation occurs when community members are warned that collecting money or gifts for votes provides temporary relief but leaves them without accountability or support for four years.
A central conflict revolves around Madame Majie (also referred to as Aruude), the women leader, who actively discourages vote selling. As a result, she becomes the target of a political scheme: Osodieme, Hon.'s wife attempts to bribe Nkiru, one of the strongest voices among the women of Umuoma, with 100,000 (with the promise of more later) to start a campaign to remove Aruude from her leadership position. Sun, 30 Nov 2025 05:00:00 GMT
The episode highlights how a new, experimental but powerful youth radio station has emerged in the community, providing crucial educational broadcasts that are"scattering things" politically. The station is activelyteaching listeners how to "vote right," detailing electionlaws, and exposing cases of fraud and rigging within the town.
The hopeful candidate, the Hon. Madukanaya, is consumed by fear and anger due to threats both from his political rival and from community activists. The Utugbaraigwe confides in the Chief that he suspects his rival, Madukanaya, isattempting to hijack the electoral process. Madukanaya is reportedly planning to buy up voters' cards from the Majie’s "stronghold" with the specific intent of destroying them to deny voting access, which the Majie notes is a "big crime".
The Honourable troubles are compounded by the actions of Aruude, Majie’s wife, who is actively campaigning against him. She accused the Honourable of embezzlingmoney meant for community projects and using those funds to sponsor his campaign. This resulted in significant embarrassment when she convinced womenat a meeting to reject the campaign clothes and money offered by the Honourable. Theprimary source of the Honourable’s anxiety is the anonymous radio station. It is causing "big wahala" (trouble) by reporting on his political schemes, including discussing how people are selling their cards and collecting money from the Honourable. The station even broadcast details about a community meeting and a small quarrel the politician had. The Honourable is certain that the station is being run by undercover journalists.Determined to stop this "nonsense radio" from disrupting hiscampaign, he immediately hires thugs to investigate its identity and location. NOT FOR SALE EP 3: THE UNSEEN FORCE
Wed, 26 Nov 2025 07:00:00 GMT
The story, which is part of the radio drama series Not for Sale, focuses on a clandestine effort to combat vote buying through community media and political mobilization.
The excerpt begins with the successful setup and testing of a secret radio transmitter by a small group of collaborators, Lotanna and Echezona. They celebrate their success, recognizing that they can now broadcast to the entire community. However, they acknowledge that operating the transmitter is a crime because they do not have an operational license. Their explicit purpose for engaging in this illegal activity is to support the campaign against vote buying, and they emphasize that the setup must remain secret. They decide to hide the transmitter on a roof, powering it using a solar panel, and plan to broadcast music, recorded local events, and civic education material.
The impact of the secret broadcast is almost immediate. Majie and wife discover that his previous public address to the community, in which he warned that taking money for votes means selling one's future, is being aired on the radio. He notes that although no journalists were present at the original event, someone must have secretly recorded it and sent it to a station. While he sees this as a positive development that helps spread the anti-vote buying message, he and others are puzzled by the source, noting that the station sounds close by and clearer than others, leading some to suspect it is the "voice of Umuoma".
Encouraged by the campaign gaining ground and the support of the community, the Utugbaraigwe agrees to run for election to the National Assembly. The clip then shifts to a meeting of the women of Umuoma, where Osodieme attempts to distribute campaign clothes and money. This act is immediately condemned by Aruude as "madness" and vote buying, stressing that the women must not sell their future.
