2: The Nessie Files

Sun, 31 Dec 2023 17:05:00 +0000

TBC Audio original drama presents The Nessie Files by Colin Brake and Andrew Cartmel.

Nessie.. the Loch Ness Monster...  What a story, what a legend! You’ve heard the stories, no doubt... that somehow some kind of prehistoric giant reptile lives in Loch Ness, one of Scotland’s deepest lakes. It’s a real phenomenon. From a few sightings through history to an explosion of blurred photos and videos in the twentieth century it’s become a global legend, right up there with Big Foot, Sasquatch, the Yeti ...

Nessie has been the subject of newspaper speculation, scientific study, monster-seeking tourism and true believers taking time away from searching the skies for little green men...

But what’s the truth behind it all? Is it all smoke and mirrors? Can it be just illusions, misunderstandings, and circumstantial evidence that proves nothing? Or is it a deliberate deception, a series of pranks and practical jokes, a cynical way to exploit a very specialised tourist market and to enhance the worldwide reputation of an otherwise obscure Scottish loch?

7: Brady & Hindley - Genesis of the Moors Murders.

Mon, 25 Dec 2023 10:07:00 +0000

QR Audio Theatre and the Jungle Room present the audiobook of Brady & Hindley - Genesis of the Moors Murders by Fred Harrison.  Read by Andy Cresswell

My name is Fred Harrison and I am the newspaper journalist who was able to penetrate the haunted mind of Ian Brady and uncover the truth behind the previously unsolved disappearances of 16 year old Pauline Reade and 12 year old Keith Bennett.

In the mid 1980s, through my work for the Sunday People newspaper, I was able to access to Ian Brady in prison, and embark upon a personal mission to solve the mystery of two of Manchester’s missing children.

I wanted justice for the mothers, but Brady had his price. Revenge. Brady wanted Lord Longford’s 16 year campaign to free Myra Hindley from prison to fail, and for Myra to die behind bars.

As I entered into a macabre cat-and-mouse operation with Britain’s most notorious child killer, it was a race against time to wrestle the truth from Brady’s haunted state of mind before Myra Hindley was granted parole.

To find justice for Pauline Reade, Keith Bennett and their families, I had to joust with a psychopath who had created his own killing cult, finally securing a confession from Brady forcing the metropolitan police to reopen 20 year old cold cases and conduct a new search of the moors, uncovering the body of Pauline Reade, and leading to the lifelong incarceration of Myra Hindley.

Brady & Hindley - Genesis of the Moors Murders draws heavily on a unique series of interviews with Brady and cast new light on a horrifying series of crimes: it also, provides clues that deepen our understanding of the general and continuing problem of child abuse.
